Who is the Children’s Book Museum for?
The Children’s Book Museum is fun for everyone! For our littlest visitors, we have exhibitions like ‘I am Frog’ (ages 0-6) and ‘ABC with the animals’ (ages 2-6). ‘Papiria’ is perfect for slightly older children (ages 7 and up). Even for adults, a visit to the Children’s Book Museum is a lot of fun; you get to learn all there is to know about youth literature and look at beautiful illustrations, for example.


Is there a way for me to stay up-to-date on the Children’s Book Museum’s activities?

There is! Here on our website you have the option of subscribing to our newsletter, which goes out several times a year and is filled with information about exhibitions, events and promotions. Visiting our website regularly, liking our Facebook page and/or following us on Twitter and Instagram are also great ways of staying up-to-date.

 

Can I visit the museum to find more information about a particular children’s book author or illustrator?

Yes, the reading room of the Literature Museum / Children’s Book Museum is the perfect place to go if you are looking for information about Dutch children’s book authors and illustrators. The reading room has an extensive collection of specialised literature and a huge archive of clippings of reviews and interviews from various newspapers and magazines.

What is the Children’s Book Museum?

At the museum, children can discover, experience, and create stories. They get acquainted with youth literature through playful activities and discover how inspiring stories can be. Creative use of language and encouragement to enjoy reading and writing are central to all of the museum’s exhibitions and activities.

Is there parking available near the museum?

The museum does not have its own parking facilities, but there are several parking garages nearby (go here for an overview). All parking in the area is paid.

 

Is the museum accessible for strollers and/or wheelchairs?

Yes, visitors can easily access the Children’s Book Museum with a stroller and/or wheelchair, and there are lifts to every floor.

 

Does the museum have a wheelchair-accessible bathroom?

Yes, the museum has a wheelchair-accessible bathroom.

 

Am I allowed to bring my dog into the museum?

Only guide dogs are allowed in the museum.

 

Can I use PIN or my credit card to pay at the Children’s Book Museum?

The whole museum and the museum shop accept PIN, but payment with a credit card is not possible.

 

Does the museum sell Museumkaarten?

Yes, our register sells Museumkaarten.

 

 Is the museum closed on holidays?

The Children’s Book Museum is closed on King’s Day, Dutch Liberation Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. We are open on all other holidays.

 

Is the museum open at night?

No, the museum is closed at night

 

Are larger groups required to make reservations beforehand?

We prefer advance notice for visits concerning groups of over 10 people. All museum classes and other educational programmes must be booked in advance.

 

Am I allowed to take photos in the museum?

Taking photos is permitted, however flash must be disabled.
